The Derbies don’t come that big. There may but not that often. There is a lot at stake here.

For Manchester United, it’s a small matter of restoring some pride which was hurt big time by the 4-0 mauling at the hands of Everton. They need a response. The players need to show what it means to pull this shirt on and over their shoulder. The manager needs a win to prove that he can stare in the eyes of one of the best managers in the current era.

For Manchester City, the whole season is at stake here. They need a win, perhaps more than their hosts and noisy neighbors. For even a draw would feel like a chastening defeat as one point won’t be enough to usurp Liverpool from the summit of the Premier League table.

United have some scores to settle here, at Old Trafford. The famous ground, The Theater of Dreams and the once fortress, holds no sway over the Cityzens.

City boss Pep Guardiola said that a visit to Old Trafford is not “Scary” anymore.

“I don’t make theories about what happened in the past for what is going to happen in the future. Every game is completely different,” he said.

“The reason why is the fact this club in the last decade grew a lot and it is not scary to go there. Before it was maybe more difficult. The players Manchester City had in the last decade have made this game a little bit more equal.”

Indeed that could be the case as the Sky Blues have lost just once in the last seven visits to Old Trafford.

While his counterpart Ole Gunnar Solskjaer knows the importance of this game. For United are chasing the Champions Legaue football for the next season. They are sixth on the table, only three points behind Chelsea on the table.
