Thirty-five game-weeks gone and still the Premier League’s destiny is not clear. It seems and is quite clear that the 2018-19 champion of England will be decided on the final day of the campaign, in all probability.

However, the mare crown won’t do justice to both Liverpool and Manchester City, for they can easily claim to be the best in the land, and neither deserve to finish second in the table.

But one team has to.

Liverpool are 2nd, just one point behind Manchester City. Their destiny is out of their hands. It has been ever since they played out four draws in six Premier League games. That was it. That was the period which Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp and the players may look back and think that’s where the title was lost.

But clinging onto past bears no fruit. The Reds have no choice but to march on and hope for luck and perhaps the destiny plays their part.

For that to happen, Klopp’s men must win their game and hope the Cityzens draw at least one of their three remaining games.

In terms of the fixture, City has the harder run-in as they play two times on the road, while the Reds are at home in two of their season-ending three games. Even the profile of the teams is much higher against Pep Guardiola’s team.

But Manchester United were the hardest and the biggest remaining obstacle. And City, quite literally, rolled over their neighbours, never looking like dropping points at Old Trafford.

To sum it up, the title is out of Liverpool’s hands. But the hope is still there. Liverpool must win their game.

The next challenge comes from Huddersfield, the easiest looking fixture on paper. But the visitors are long dead and buried to resurrect to the Championship football next season.

And that makes the Terries a dangerous side, For they have no target, which gives them the luxury of enjoying the game, as well as the freedom to enjoy the game at Anfield.
